Version 1 has a back and version 2 doesnt. Im still practicing my backs and wasnt super happy with how it came out, but I decided to leave the back in a version anyway. For the New years comp against Oxol, good luck Oxol! Klonoa is coming to Wii which is awesome. As always had fun making it, cc/suggestions welcomed as always.

The flashy effects are overdone and ruin the box for me.

#2, It's not only in Japan. It's called Klonoa: Door to Phantomile (same title as the original) in Japan, and simply Klonoa in the US.
It should be fun. And a decent box, flashy effects.

In full view, I can see the logo is in bad shape. Overall, the box is good. The back of Version 1 is good, actually.
I think I would have used a more whimsical style, a kind of storybook illustration style design, with faded edges to scenes and soft colors.
Version 2 has too much background behind the box.
It's decent.

i think you should try making the back before the front, and work on your typography.
Love the textures you do on your boxes.
