I got the idea while looking at the original boxarts for Megaman 1 and 2. And since I just bought this game and it didn't come with a case, I figured I'd make one.
I found it funny how wrong they got the idea in those early boxarts since they didn't use the official Capcom work which would have made a whole lot more sense. Anyway, so I decided I would illustrate the ninja, which is carrying a sword (you don't get a sword in the game, if you've never played.) I did this since in one of the Megaman boxes, they had him holding a gun instead of the Mega Buster, lol.
I modeled quick versions of some of the obstacles in the game in 3D Studio Max and textured them with cheezy retro-esque textures.
I'm pretty happy with this result. I hope you guys enjoy a fresh take on this game.
#4, XD, ya, the game is graphically plain. But the gameplay is so addicting!
I'm glad people like this, I quite enjoyed making it.
EDIT: Added a printable version!
#6, I liked the flash version, But the controls with an actual controller makes it better. I'm glad you realize it's supposed to be a ridiculous illustration. I was afraid people will think I lost my touch, lol.
As stupid as this game was when I finally played the Flash, this boxart is both awesome and hilarious, knowing the story behind it with the Mega Man art. Great job.
I had rented this on the PSP, totally was waste of my time, this game didnt really even have a purpose at all, unless you count nothing as a action of choice. i mean id didnt even know the guy was a ninja till i read something about it online after i had played it..
I do like this box, though when you look at the front, its like "this looks like a cool game", then you look at the screenshots.
Wow man that art on the front is brilliant. I love your style of art and you have real talent. I've heard alot about this game and I really must play it some time! Also where can I get that template?
I really like the pseudo retro vibe the design has. The graphic presentation of the N+ titles, and I'm pretty sure it was the developers intention to an extent, reminds me of one of those old Atari games with the giant pixels.
The boxes for these games as some of you guys may remeber, had some seriously awesome, detailed artwork as covers. (My favorite being "Haunted House"):http://farm1.static.flickr.com/163/329828084_dad514a377.jpg?v=0
I totally get the same impression with what you put together here, as all of the previously mentioned elements match up with your design and the N+ games, and I think it's really cool.
