Comment on HalfSwiss's Dante's Inferno Box Art / Cover.
Starting off the year with one of my most wanted games.

I don't really like the typography, but otherwise, good.

#2, care to go into detail?

This looks really good!

#3, I think the front's text is O.K. Nothing special. But the back's text is too thin and close to the edge.

Nice box, but i dislike the three different logo fonts
[ Reply ]
#6, I did that because not all logos fit with the images. Aaaand the picture eon the back was originally a wallpaper with the logo and I didn't have a rendered logo.

Hey, that's absolutely awesome!
I'm going to fav it, but I suggest you remove all the back text, not because it's bad, no... not at all. Remove it because the cover would look IMMENSE without it, a certain MasterWorks! It would give it an awesome... slip-cover feel to it.

Explain to me why it's essence instead of a normal box, please?
[ Reply ]
#9, it displays the dark and death-filled properties of the game.
This is my question to everyone that asks that: Does it really matter at all if the box is in a normal template or in an essence template?
UPDATE V2: Made the back more immense as HCFB suggested, and changed the spine's logo as Death suggested.

#10, Since you've tagged it as essence, and have an essence template; yes. It does matter.
Ok, so it's supposed to display the ''dark and death-filled properties of the game''... How exactly does it portray that in another way that the official box does?
As a matter of fact, the official box portrays it better than you do,in my opinion.[http://beckps3.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/dantes-inferno-boxart1.jpg]
Have you seen the rest of the essence collection? And i'm referring to ones that really capture the essence of the game, like alot of the ''originals'' on the Neogaf forums.
I'm sorry if it sounds harsh, but this is as much of an essence box as Obama is white.
People should honestly stop making ''essence'' boxes,if they can't put enough thought into it.
Don't get me wrong,I like the box itself, it's just nowhere near being an essence one.
P.s.
This is all my own opinion, so take it seriously,or don't. I just want you you to know it,so it might help you.

#11, but in my opinion it doesn't really matter. It's just a template and tag. I like to think of it as a collection of great games as the Criterion Collection is. I picked essence for two reasons: A) I love the template and it's much easier to use than typical templates, B) I wanted it to be in a collection as I just stated.
But I don't want to turn this into an Essence debate.

#12, There's no debate, it's simple.
Use ''Essence'' templates for ''Essence'' boxes.
Use ''Normal''templates for '' Normal'' Boxes.

#13, yes I understand, but I honestly love the template and unless you want me to edit I plan to use it.
Sorry.

Idea half, make your own temp thats simple. Seriously all the game boxes i make that are not essence are simple like an essence box but i dont feal the box captures the games essence thus i just use a dvd temp, its that simple. There is no rule anywhere on this site that says you have to make somthing look official. So, in this case i have to side with ayron
[ Reply ]
#15, alright then next time I'll edit the temp.

I like the update, however, I miss what was behind the text... those images really made it. :)
Is there any chance of them returning?
Y'know, I like you HalfSwiss, you're one of the only authors on the site that pays attention to his fans and follows their instructions. Good job on that. :)

#17, Yeah I could probably get them back. I'll try later.

It reminds me of your Dead Space box a little.
[ Reply ]
#19, that's what I want to do. Since I made a really successful Dead Space essence box, I decided to make another essence Visceral Games. Dead Space 2 is next up (hopefully).
And guys, I really think this does show the essence. Death symbolizes, well, death. Fire symbolizes Hell. The immense darkness of the back symbolizes the darkness obviously. These are all essences of the game: death, Hell, and darkness.

#20, I personally think that more of the older illustrations made for the poem symbolize Hell better than just fire, but I can see your argument for why this is an Essence box.
For anybody wanting an alternative to the Essence template, I actually just released the simplicity Template I created for my Devil May Cry 3 box link . You can find the template here: link
Not really meant as an advertisement, I just want people to know that an alternative to Essence is out there.
Back to the box, I want to like it, but it doesn't feel like it has good flow.

#21, true, but most illustrations can't really fit into the box art format without looking odd.
I do believe this is an Essence box, though, even if it barely meets the criteria.

#22, It's all good. I agree with your argument for it.

#23, thanks man. Very nice simplicity template, btw. I think I'm going to continue to use the Essence template although. Something about it really looks fantastic to me.
So any other comments?

Wow! Nice work!
I really like the detail on the front. It matches the seemingly dark feeling of the game.
