Alright, second box!

I know there's a good handful of Mirror's Edge boxes already up, some that are exceptional, but I've always loved Mirror's Edge and wanted to throw my own up!

A little back story: The second box I ever did was a Mirror's Edge box that I wasn't too happy about, looking back now. I loved the idea of the city on the front... It's so clean and bright and, as mentioned in the game, devoid of life. I decided to break up the city by showing that it is truly fractured... There's what the people see, and what is between the cracks, what the people aren't aware of.

The back, I didn't want any images or screens or anything, but my ideas always came up to be a bit odd and lacking. I threw the image of Faith at the top because it really helps echo the tagline I created-"The city is clean. The City is beautiful. The city is watching every move you make."

The actual description I had some troubles with, but I think it came out well enough. Overall, I'm very happy, and I thank everybody who helped me out in my WIP thread to improve. I hope you enjoy!

Sorry for the second comment, but it won't let me add to my first comment, but:

The box template is a bit jagged and such, but I'm working on learning how to make the boxes look superb still, so it's a learning process.

I also credited the template to the wrong person, it should be SENS!!!! I'll fix that if I update the box! I apologize SENS!

I like it, especially like the front and I just wish the back had the same style.

The front is okay, but the back in my opinion needs a lot of work. The text gets lost on that red bar, and I'm not a fan of the screenshots without a border. I think the arrangement of the back is fantastic, but I don't like the typography on the back.

In my honest opinion, I think you should re-work the second tagline toward the middle of the back, the red one, and the large red block would do great with a gradient that implements darker reds to accompany the style of the blue sky just above it. If you moved those two red blocks that shoot out from the side of the large one inward, you could add a drop shadow on the large red block to make the smaller ones look as if they're emerging from behind. And as far as the screenshots, a digi-mask (thin lines cutting through the screenshot that fade into it, just along the corners) would make them stylized, without having to add anything else to the box.

It's a good design, just needs a little tweaking from my perspective.

ZombieDeadpool, no problem at all! I appreciate the advice!

Soundwave, backs are a bit new to me. I feel like less is better, but sometimes it comes off as barren and a bit crap. I'm still working on that!

Ray Blade, as I mentioned above, I'm still having growing pains with doing backs of boxes. Usually I'll throw a blurb up and call it a day and not have any screens or anything else of the like. With the tag line, I felt like it really does convey a good feeling of the city, and the game more importantly. It's Faith trying to get to the bottom of her ordeal while she's being pursued by the big wigs. They keep an eye on the runners, and the population of the city as a whole, so they can keep everything neat and tidy and pretty. It's 1984.

To address your other complaints, I actually did add a little bit of a darker red to the bottom of the thick bar, but I think I turned the opacity down too much and it's barely visible. I'll darken it up a little so it's noticable! Also, I like your idea with the drop shadows of the smaller bars, so I think I'll go back and clean that up a little bit. About the digi-mask, I'll send you a PM and see if you could give me a little more help/an example, as I'm still learning the ins and outs of Photoshop.

Also, I think I need to really punch up the last line on the description, about taking control of Faith. I spent 20 minutes trying to figure out what the hell to say, and it still came out schlocky.

#6, Okay partner, sounds good. And yeah, when I first started out, I went through the same thing. But yes, I'll try and help you out with what I'm referring to.

Really good stuff for a second. Love the idea on the front cover.
Only crit. would be to change the font for 'the city is watching...' and the description.

I look forward to seeing more from you.
