This can be considered as a remake of the cover for the 1995-97 game, Highly Responsive to Prayers, the first game in the Touhou Project series, apparently.

I played this game myself a few weeks ago, it was a wonderful game, despite being a bit simple.
Being a game developed in 1995 though, it was expected to be such kind of game.

I was not actually intending to make this cover simplistic, but in the end, it seems it turned out rather clean.
If you were probably curious, the Reimu Hakurei picture was indeed made by me. It looks like this would be my second cover using custom art.
I hope this would be my last cover for a not-so-known Japanese game, though.

However, have you tried a change in pace and making official-ish boxes?
I'm sure your skills could work well on them.

#3, I agree. As amazing as your simple boxes are, you should try making an official looking box. This box is still awesome!
